Our Culture
We owe much of our culture to ants. Confused? Read on...

To know about us is to really know our culture and what we value.  We have a belief at Core3 that it is culture that grows companies. Take a look around at some of the coolest companies that you respect, and undoubtedly you will find a pretty cool culture exists.

We wish we could give all the credit about culture to us, but unfortunately we cannot. Rather, we owe much of our focus to ants. Yes, that's right, ants. Not sure if you have ever checked them out, but they are quite an amazing little organism. Despite being incredibly small and almost unnoticed at times, it seems as if ants have quite a culture. So much so, that some have even dubbed them super organisms and follow their communication patterns in order to develop technology.

Despite the cool fact that ants can lift 20 times their own weight, and that if we could run as fast as ants we would be running as fast as a horse, we at Core3 find them fascinating for an entirely different reason. We find them fascinating for the fact that ants seem to have the right perspective on growing their colony or for us their culture.

This culture that ants have has been narrowed down by researchers to include 3 key elements:

  • Ants modify habits
  • Ants tap resources
  • Ants defend themselves

As we looked at these three ant elements, we at Core3 saw 3 key elements that we would need if we were going to continue to develop our culture. We knew that in order to thrive, strive, survive and grow our culture as well as the business of our customers, we like the ants would have to:

  • Modify our habits - As a team we always have to be creative enough to learn to always do things more efficiently and in better ways.  We believe this mentality truly benefits our customers as we always strive to bring the best ideas to life in the most efficient manner.
  • Tap resources - As a team we had to find the vision to look at ourselves and our strengths, and daily determine how each team member can contribute in new and unique ways. This perspective has changed the way our colony operates on a daily level.  We take this perspective into how we tap into the best concepts for our customers
  • Defend ourselves - This may sound a little defensive, but hang with us on this one. As a team we need to continue to develop leadership skills that allow every team member to win. When we do this, no member of our "colony" is ever left vulnerable. When this attitude is adopted we produce amazing results.  Just like we defend our team, we work that much harder to build a great defense into our customer's strategies.  When we do this we see our customers growing in ways they never could have imagined.

The day has come for the official start to the Core3 Summer Internship program. We are excited to have taken on three interns to help out with various accounts in our digital marketing, web development and web design departments. The teams will work alongside the interns to teach them the skills they need to excel in their fields and show how each department works together.
Anyone who has seen the new Core3 office can tell you that the new space just breeds creativity. We’ve got a new open floor plan that allows us to really bounce things off of each other and collaborate, a full kitchen to keep us fueled and some great spaces to interface with clients. However, with all of this we’ve discovered, something we’re not so geared towards creativity -- BLANK WALLS!
It’s the one day where items don’t seem to go our way and everything finds a way to go wrong. Yes, it’s Friday the 13th. The superstitious day has led to numerous strange happening over the years and lead to a cult favorite series of horror films starring the one and only Jason Voorhees. Whether you’re a believer in the superstitious day or not, the number 13 has its fair share of a haunting history.

The culture of a company can really set the tone for how well the employees work together and how motivated everyone is to accomplish projects. It’s important to find a balance between hard work and time for entertainment.

At Core3 Solutions, we knew we wanted to celebrate the holidays in a big way for our staffers. But with so many exciting things happening during the holiday season, we decided to bring some Core3 holiday cheer in to January.

Last month, Core3 rented out the High Rollers Room at Emagine Theater Royal Oak. The second level suite overlooks Star Lanes below and offers an executive treatment to its guests. Core3 welcomed staffers to bring their loved ones and enjoy an evening of delicious food, fun games and festive drinks. We spent the evening bowling, playing shuffleboard, battling on Ms. Pac Man, shooting pool and enjoying some relaxation.

Startup Weekends are designed to push entrepreneurs to create a web or mobile application built around a viable startup idea. They are held across the world and gather people with an array of skill sets – particularly software developers, graphic designers and business people. Paul Chambers, Adam Stogdill and Dan Corcoran of Core3, with the help of Chris Czub of Barracuda Networks, participated in Ann Arbor’s Startup Weekend to create TaskMissile.

SEM (Search engine marking) is an important form of Internet marketing. It works to increase the visibility of websites in search engines through a variety of techniques. Paul Chambers, co-owner of Core3 Solutions, and Brian Renner, founder of movieinside.com, recently spoke about SEM at Walsh College. At the college’s Global Entrepreneurship Week, the two were able to share their experiences with SEM to help others create more profitable websites.

Being found online is important in operating a successful business. Internet users find a variety of information through search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. There are millions of websites in the world and it’s essential to rank high in search engines so web users will find your website more easily. With Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay-Per-Click (PPC), businesses can become more noticeable online.

To create a successful website, it is also important to consider the user’s experience. If a website is over-cluttered, slow in loading and hard to understand – users will simply move on to a different site. Brain talked about his experience with movieinsider.com and discussed how a less cluttered, quicker and simpler website has helped increase their revenue.

The Core3 staff wasn’t born with this tech-savvy knowledge. We simply have a passion for what we do. We started with a simple understanding of how things work with computers and grew our knowledge base to where it is today. In fact, we recognize that we still have plenty to learn and there’s always room to grow.
At Core3 Solutions, the culture of our company is a very important aspect of how we run our daily operations. As a group, we understand that having a happy and healthy team results in a more enjoyable and productive company.
